About Us

Who is Lorica?

Lorica Technologies was founded by Christopher Dye in 2021 to design the next generation of unmanned systems. In 2024 the firm expanded its team and scope: SeaSafe, the Lorica Control Plane that runs it, the SeaSafe Standard that prices it, and the SeaSafe Certification Training that institutionalizes it. Today, Lorica builds the drones, the platform that runs them, and the standard that measures them. Maritime is the first vertical. The horizon extends.

The Lorica Name

The thin line.

The word Lorica has meaning in many languages, often referring to a prayer for protection. Its original meaning was the breast plate armor a Roman centurion wore into battle. Legionnaires trusted that thin line of metal with their lives. We bring that thin lifesaving line into the modern era, as a first and last layer of defense.
